g8wave has teamed up with The Mall, the
seasonal brochure advertising the latest news, events and special
offers at their 20 shopping centres all over the UK.
With over 100,000 copies of the spring edition in circulation, g8wave's
expertise offered a great opportunity for The Mall to engage with a
vast number of people via mobile, so they could build a database from
their regular shoppers and target these people at a later date with
offers that might interest them.
The Mall asked g8wave to think of some enticing competition ideas
and promotions which would appeal to shoppers of all ages. We chose
the following:
- Holiday to China
- Year's supply of Charles Worthing products
- Win a mobile phone on Virgin
- Win GHD hair irons
To ensure that we met the client's expectations of building a large
database we asked entrants to abbreviate the name of the centre they
were entering from, so for example a text message from a Luton customer
looked like this:
Holidays (Space) Lu
This made it quick and easy to enter and maximised the potential for
a large number of entrants.
This proved to be a highly successful five-week promotion and the
client was hugely impressed by the size of the database we helped to
generate, highlighting the power of mobile marketing and g8wave's ability
to capitalise on this to the full.
