Johnston Press chooses g8wave to
expand its mobile strategy
g8wave
is proud to highlight its continued work with Johnston Press - one
of the largest regional press groups in the UK & Ireland - comprising
over 300 print titles and 231 affiliated websites. In 2006, Johnston
Press recognised the importance and potential in the growing mobile
space and the need to development a coherent mobile marketing strategy
that best reflected and enhanced its core brand values; attributed
to and trusted by the readership of its newspapers.
Throughout 2007, g8wave provided Johnston Press with a strong mobile
presence in-print and online and used this mobile "springboard" to
provide a convenient and personal platform in which readers can engage
and interact with their local newspaper.
g8wave's commitment to mobile innovation, aligned with a robust technical
and management structure, has enabled Johnston Press to reach out to
its readers with a plethora of SMS campaigns and services and, as early
as March 2007, surpass the amount of text traffic generated for the
whole of 2006. Such campaigns include: competitions; vote-lines; reader
feedback forum; reader subscription-based news and sports alerts; lowest
unique bid auctions; pay for content; football realtones and online
video diaries, to name but a few. Particular SMS campaign highlights
include Scotland on Sunday's exclusive CD offer from acclaimed tunesmiths "The
Proclaimers" and a complementary whiskey miniature offer to tie
in with best-selling crime writer Ian Rankin's forthcoming novel.
While votelines, reader feedback forums and competition lines continue
to be popular among Johnston Press readers, we're now experiencing
unprecedented demand for new services built around reader-generated
content. Video and MMS picture services are providing newspapers with
a content-rich source of new copy and features, as well as building
a fluid, instantaneous means of corresponding with their readers.
g8wave look forward to continued growth and expansion with Johnston
Press throughout 2007, as more and more readers adopt the medium of
mobile as a fundamental means of accessing and contributing to their
newspaper's content as and when they want it.
