For the second year in a row g8wave have been chosen by the
M&C Saatchi advertising agency to provide the Live-Text
voting platform for the Orange BAFTA Rising Star Award.
This
prestigious award is the only one on the night to be voted
for by the public, who will decide which actor they think is
destined for great things.
Award-winning British director Richard Curtis sums up the
importance of this award: "The Orange Rising Star Award
is crucial because when you look back on people's careers,
you often find the most brilliant things they did were at the
beginning but no one thought to reward them for it."
The
vote, which will be announced at the Orange British Academy
Film Awards ceremony on 11 February 2007, utilises g8wave's
Live-Text mobile communicator application.
The winner
is chosen from a list of five candidates and votes are cast
by texting the actor's name to a premium SMS short code.
M&C Saatchi's
media partners, newspapers The Times, The Guardian, The Sun,
The Mirror and magazines Empire, FHM, GQ, Heat, Glamour, Closer
and Zoo will all be advertising the vote. BBC Radio1, Virgin
Radio and GMTV have also agreed to broadcast the details.
There is also a prize on offer - in partnership with Blockbuster,
anyone who votes using their special trigger codes will receive
a two-for-one film or game rental text voucher from g8wave.
Winners just go into their local Blockbuster store, show a
member of staff the text, then go and choose their film or
game.
