February 2008 saw g8wave launch two fresh, new dating services for Associated
Newspapers’ Evening Standard and London Lite titles.
Meeting Point and WLTM both aimed to provide Londoners with
a hassle-free, fun and exciting way to date wherever they were.
With g8wave’s strong dating background and Associated’s
vast reader base in London, both parties saw the benefits of
offering readers a dating service that would not only generate
revenue for both businesses, but also allow people to communicate
with each other via their phone, online or via the columns
of the papers.
With both dating services appearing in print on a weekly basis,
readers were given the opportunity to have their ad featured
and respond to potential matches over the phone. As well as
this, g8wave built branded dating websites for both newspapers
where readers could browse the members’ gallery and take
advantage of the messaging, ‘winking’ and voice
greeting applications as well as being able to view other members’ photos.
Not only did dating allow Associated to build a database of
members for further marketing opportunities, it also provided
Londoners with a modern, convenient way of dating.
