For over 21 years, millions of people have found Loot to be
the best place to find, buy, sell and rent almost anything!
Loot started out back in 1985 as the UK's first free-ads paper.
It is part of Associated Newspapers, who publish various titles
including the Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday, Evening Standard
and Metro. Today, Loot runs a number of local editions across
the UK, including Manchester, Liverpool and London. It publishes
10 regional editions every week, plus 3 magazines, with an
overall circulation of over 30,807 per issue.
Loot approached g8wave and asked us to think of innovative
ways to ensure that advertisers didn't forget that their ad
was about to expire, if they still hadn't sold the item within
the paper.
g8wave thought of an easy, yet very effective mechanic, which
meant that Loot was able to reach each and every one of its
advertisers to ensure that they knew their ad was up for renewal
the day before it expired.
The mechanic g8wave designed is:
- Loot upload a list of numbers onto its FTP site
- We pick the numbers up and send an outbound message, asking
the advertiser to text back RENEW if they still haven't sold
the item and wish to carry on advertising with Loot
- We pass the information back to Loot
- The ad gets renewed in time for the next print run!
These four simple steps mean that the advertiser avoids the
inconvenience of ringing the call centre to renew the ad.
The advertiser also has the luxury of not having to remember
when their ad expires, as well as giving them a much more
personalised service on behalf of Loot.
So far we have had over 10,000 ads renewed via this mechanic
since March 2007.
